2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)

I love buy gifts on etsy....you find unusual and special items everyday.

Medium Dog Collar from lilstarkitten.etsy.com

This listing is for 1 medium sized dog collar. This collar will fit necks 12 inches to 21.5 inches and measures 1 inch in width. Equiped with strong welded D ring and secure side release buckle. For 10.00 from http://www.lilstarkitten.etsy.com

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?
A co-worker introduced me to Etsy about two years ago. She liked to knit and always looked around. When I saw that Etsy had things for Pets I was very excited. I love my pets and love to sew. I saw that people had handmade collars and I thought "How clever! I would be able to make my own collars, my own designs and it wouldn't cost me as much." My first few looked a little rough, but now I have them just how I want them. I started taking them to work with me to see what people thought. Co-workers wanted to purchase them. I did pretty well with that. Then I decided to list a few on Etsy. It took a little while to figure out what pricing and how I wanted my pictures to look. I try to keep it simple and straight forward. I refuse to list my collars for more than what I would pay for a dog or cat collar, even though I have been told I could sell them for more. I have also sold collars at animal rescue fundraisers.

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
I love to shop for artwork (Boxer paintings and drawings mostly), baby gifts, cards, jewelry, bags and pouches.

3-What is your current fave product under 20$?
This is a perfect question. I don't make a lot of money so I am always looking for great things under 20 dollars. Right now I would have to say a picture of a Boxer puppy for 12.50 from http://www.K9artgallery.etsy.com http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=12919758

4- Any advice for new sellers?
Keep it simple. Offer discounts. People love fast shipping-be sure to look into the price of shipping your items. That is not where you should try to make a few more dollars. If I see an item that has a costly shipping fee attached to it, no matter how much I want it i will not buy it. If your items are valuable and you need to charge more for shipping or if weight is a factor in shipping cost, be sure to explain that in your listing. Buyers don't think that way when they are shopping.

1.     Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I choose to sell on Etsy because a friend told me about it. She was a seller and I checked it out and LOVED it.

2. What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)

I guess I can't really narrow my favorite thing to buy down too easily. I love buying from fellow vintage sellers, as well as accessories and jewelry. But I love it all.

3. What is your current fave product(not in your store) under 20$?

Currently I am loving this shop and these earrings under 20.00 http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=22401467 This shop has a great cause too! From http://www.morningglorydesigns.etsy.com for 18.00

4. Any advice for new sellers?

My advice for new sellers would be to be very diligent, work your shop as hard as you are able, have fun and make sure you are doing what you love. Don't get too frustrated if things are slow for a bit, It will get better and there seems to be patterns of things slowing down and picking up for everyone.

15 Envelopes - from recycled Urban Outfitters Catalog from mstineah.etsy.com

All envelopes are individually cut by hand from magazine pages and glued with heavy duty glue. Each envelope measures approximately 5 in. by 4.25 in (closed). Avilable for 6.00 from http://www.mstineah.etsy.com

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?
I discovered Etsy a few years ago after visiting a local art fair in Louisville, Ky called St. James Art Fair. Some the local artists cannot afford to exhibit in the actual fair so they get together every year and run the St. James Unfair. I met an artist who was selling jewelry made from Shrinky Dinks at the fair, as well as on Etsy. I forgot about the site until recently, when I had no idea what to do with the large amount of marble magnets/bubble beads I had made. I do not sell anywhere else.

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
I go to Etsy to find items that are unique and not in store. I like buying random items, such as pocket mirrors, magnets, keychains, and anything related to photography or Chicago.

3-What is your current fave product under 20$(not in your store)?
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=24158457&ref=sr_gallery_9&&ga_search_query=camera+necklace&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=titleCeramic Camera Necklace... beautiful! For 15.00 at http://www.surly.etsy.com

Vintage Tupperware Nesting Cookie Cutters from PoorMansTreasure.etsy.com

This is a set of five nesting cookie cutters made by Tupperware. They are orange in color and have a heart, a star, and a flower in two different sizes. Each side is usabable and they neatly store one inside the other and the two largest ones connect to make a container for easy storage.
This set sells for $7.25 and is available at http://www.poormanstreasure.etsy.com

1.     Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I can't really recall exactly how I came upon Etsy but I was very intrigued from the first minute I browsed the site. I had tried Ebay a few years back but I just found it too complicated to decide how long to list an item for, whether to set a reserve price, and there are just so many items that I felt it was very easy to get lost in the shuffle. I really love Etsy because every item either has to be handmade or vintage, the listing fees are minimal, the listing time is reasonable, and the best thing is you can set your own prices.

2. is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)

My most favorite thing to purchase on Etsy is supplies for making Scrabble tile pendants.

3. What is your current fave product(not in your store) under 20$?

My favorite item under $20.00 from another shop on Etsy would have to be the pocket tissue holders that http://www.aprilsoriginals.etsy.com makes. I believe I have used mine daily since I purchased it.

4. Any advice for new sellers?

My advice would be to try to get the best pictures possible, keep your prices reasonable, and always ship as quickly as possible. I believe that the longer customers have to wait on an item the more impatient they become and when they finally decide to leave feedback the excitement is already gone.

5. And a favorite quote?

My favorite quote (verse) would of course be "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Matthew 6:21" . That is how we came up with our shop name of PoorMansTreasure. While we may not have a lot of money or worldly possessions, we have our faith in God and our spiritual treasures.

Kiwi - One Dozen Vegan Soy Tealights from gypsydreamcrafters.etsy.com

One dozen freshly poured to order all natural vegan soy tealights, highly scented in Kiwi - Juicy kiwi paired with a hint of pineapple and mango combine nicely to create this crisp fruity fragrance. This is a new addition to the fragrances and is already a favorite. These candles are made with metal-free (no lead, no zinc) all cotton self-trimming wicks for a clean, natural burn. They use only all natural vegan soy wax, NOT soy blends containing paraffin. These tealights will arrive neatly packaged in a protective frosted box and enclosed in a colorful ribbon-cinch gift bag. These are available at http://www.gypsydreamcrafters.etsy.com for $7.25.

1. Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I chose to sell on Etsy for several reasons. One being, at the time I started I was unable to work due to a back injury and wanted to start an online business so that I could work from home. Another being, by having a good look at Etsy, I felt it was generally a better quality online shopping site than others I've seen/bought from. For me, the concept of 'handmade' is preferable to 'anything goes,' such as you would find on an auction site. It allows artists of all ilks to make their works available. I also sell at local weekly craft markets.

2. What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)?

I don't buy much on Etsy. Not that I don't want to, it's simply not practical right now. I do buy the occasional supply when it's only one or two items I need. I'd rather support a fellow Etsian than a commercial business. I also buy the occasional item from a friend who has recently opened a shop. I want to support them as well.

3. What is your current fave product under 20$(not in your store)?
My current fave product....Hmmmmm...That's tough only because I'm not much of a consumer these days. To be completely honest, it's a whipped body butter I'm developing which I haven't listed in the shop yet. I've been using myself as the guinea pig, and it's 'near perfect,' if I do say so myself..;) It will be in my shop in the very near future, so it probably doesn't count as the answer to this question. But, it's the best answer I can give at this time.

4. Any advice for new sellers?

I can't say I have any sage advice for new sellers, as I'm still learning myself. I've never attempted anything like this before. I've always had a full time job and my hobbies were much different than they are now. Becoming a candle and soap maker/seller grew out of hobbies I started when I injured my back and couldn't work or exercise outdoors any longer. What I have learned is, it requires a lot of hard work to create a high quality product, something you would want to buy yourself; and it requires a lot of patience once that is achieved and you put your products on the market. Although a lot of time and money has been spent perfecting your products and you're ready to 'sell sell sell', it takes time for others to notice the difference between yours and someone else's. (Sigh...If they would only read feedback). Also, when selling a 'common' item, it's important to bear in mind that there are many other sellers who have been around with the 'same' items for a lot longer than you. They have a loyal following, which takes a lot of customers out of your reach. It has been my experience that customers are more likely to be someone new to Etsy, or simply not sold on someone else yet, and it takes time to build a clientele out of that. Patience is indeed a virtue. Good communication with your buyers and potential buyers is very important as well. People appreciate being appreciated. =)

Custom Family Portrait from jensfireart.etsy.com

What you will get is a painting done in a shadow form, like these ones, of a portrait sent to me via e-mail. It is done on a 5x7 plaque (circle plaque is 6" in diameter) and is treated with a coat of polyeurothane gloss. Each one is also signed and dated on the back.

You would be able to choose from pretty much any color imaginable, it does not have to be black or blue. There is a mounting hook on the back as well for easy hanging, no framing needed. It can be displayed beautifully on a stand as well.  This custom portrait sells for 15.00 and is available at http://
www.jensfireart.etsy.com

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I chose to sell on etsy becuse I really liked the laid back feel of the community and that everything here is handmade. You get to focus on a crowd that truly appreciate the time and effort that goes into all things hand made.
I also sell a little bit on ebay under the user name jens-fire-art.

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)

I love to buy custom portraits on etsy. I've purchased digital photos and paintings. I just love the fact that someone else is rendering their art into a portrait. It's neat to me.

3-What is your current fave product(not in your store) under 20$?

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=16018096
I love this artists style of painting. It's so unique. There is something about this painting that makes me just want to keep looking at it to see what else I can find in it. I could probably sit and look at for a while. From http://kendrabinney.etsy.com for 20.00.

4- Any advice for new sellers?

Stick to your style. It can get hard and discouraging sometimes when you see all these different talents on etsy, but never give up cause your style of art, whatever it may be, marks it as yours.

Turquoise Petal Necklace from orangeboxjewelry.etsy.com

This necklace is made using oval pieces of chalk turquoise. They have the most beautiful dark sage and earthy brown colors to each stone. The chains are silver metal vintage salvages and the shorter measures 16 inches and the longer 18 inches. The necklace is 20.00 and is available at http://www.orangeboxjewelry.etsy.com

1. Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

Because of...
Etsy As A Company:
The Etsy site has a great look and feel to it. The site is set up perfectly so new users can easily buy or sell with a few clicks. All of the fantastic ways to search let customers find your products in so many different ways, allowing a person to locate the exact item they are hoping to find. I also am grateful for the reasonable listing and sellers fees. I am also very grateful for the Etsy Staff who keep artistans informed about a wide variety of issues through their blogs and The Storque.

The Customers:
Etsy shoppers are interested in unique handmade and vintage pieces at prices that won't keep them eating Ramen Noodles for the next month. Not everyone in the world appreciates one of a kind necklaces or earrings made from soda can tabs, but Estyians have deep appreciation for craftspeople who think outside the box.

The Community of Sellers:
Etsy teams are a great way to connect with artisans in your area of expertise to share experiences and seek advice. As an independent businessperson, I don't often find myself surrounded with helpful coworkers if I have a stumbling block or want an opinion on a piece of work in progress. Through Etsy groups, I can stay connected to other jewelry artisans or craftspeople in my hometown. I also find a lot of inspiration reading stories about featured artists on the Etsy homepage and in the Storque.

In addition to Etsy, I sell in four Seattle-area stores, in one outdoor year-round arts market, one seasonal summer outdoor market and a number of
Seattle area festivals and seasonal shows. (If you're interested in specifics, they're on my website http://www.orangeboxjewelry.com/Where_to_Buy.html )

2.  What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)

My favorite thing to buy on Etsy are unique supplies like vintage watch chains or huge lots of broken vintage costume jewelry.

3.  What is your current fave product(not in your store) under 20$?

It is a lovely small bowl from a fellow Pacific North westerner. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=fp_recent&listing_id=19159089 I love to use small beautiful bowls to sort my findings and rhinestones - I think they stimulate my creativity.

4. Any advice for new sellers?

My advice to new sellers is to do your homework and read everything available to you about how to sell on Etsy as you begin. There are great instructional articles on the Etsy site and helpful stories of successful Etsy sellers. Check out teams to find one near you. Here in Seattle, Team Etsyrain offers periodic "Etsy 101" gatherings produced by veteran sellers. And most importantly, tell EVERYONE you know about your store. You never know where your first sale is going to come from.

In times like these we all know how important it is to shop smart. From guilty pleasures to must haves. Medical Insurance, Medicaid, and perscritpion drug costs are hot button issues. Which is why price comparing pharmacys is so important, don't assume 1 drug will cost pretty much the same everywhere. Sometimes the difference is minimal but other times there can be a drastic gap.

I know what your thinking I don't really have time to call around to all the pharmacys in my area, well then keep reading. http://www.pharmacychecker.com will find the best drug prices from verified online pharmacys for you! pharmacychecker.com will provide you with ratings and profiles to verified online pharacys in the US, Canada, and many foreign countrys for FREE. Village People Cruisin YMCA Vinyl Record LP Candy Dish Bowl from Vintageinspiration.etsy.com

Get the party started with these fun party bowls that can be used to contain your candy, nuts or party favors. This one is the Village People's Cruisin' album with YMCA as the no. 1 track.

Record bowls have an odd shape and no two are ever alike. They are light weight, but require a bit larger box which makes the postage go up. This bowl is $5.50, check out her store at http://www.vintageinspiration.etsy.com

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I was peddling my little crafts to small boutiques that mostly wanted to consign. I kept hearing about etsy but it took me a while to feel confident that my work was hip enough for artsy etsians. After almost 500 sales, I figure I’m doing okay whether my work is considered artsy or craftsy. I’ve looked into other online craft sites, but etsy gets the most visibility and publicity. Also, I suffer from Crafter’s Attention Deficit Syndrome and am constantly stopping and starting new projects and treasure hunting for vintage inspirations. I don’t have a lot of extra time to set up multiple shops. On weekends, I get my fix selling at markets and fairs.

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)

I think it is very important for sellers to also be buyers on etsy. I am always surprised when a new seller’s feedback indicates they have not purchased anything themselves. Put your money where your mouth is and show your support! There are plenty of items on etsy that we can use in our daily lives like soaps, greeting cards, business development and marketing tools, etc. My favorite things to buy on etsy are supplies.

3-What is your current fave product (not in your store) under 20$?

Along the lines of selling on etsy, I have to say that I am getting the most bang from my 20 bucks investing in promotional/graphic design items fromvintagebella.etsy.com. Heather is wonderful! She designed my fabulous banner and shop logo and creates coordinating mailing labels, stickers, notecards, postcards, ads, gift certificates --- just about everything you need to look good. Check out this item for example -- http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23740968

4- Any advice for new sellers?

Make sure your shop is a buyer’s happy place. A place they will want to visit over and over again. A cheerful banner; fresh, vivid photos; and, friendly convos that immediately thank customers for their purchases and insures them their items have been shipped. I also include a free ‘thank you’ item with each purchase.

So I love deisgner bagels. There so big and flavorful. What I don't like is the .60 and up price tag per bagel. So I solved my problem, with the popularity of artisan breads growing  the supermarket bakery's reduced sale section is quickly becoming the place to shop. You can find artisan bread, designer bagels, and baked goods at drastically reduced prices.

So keep a sharp eye out. Some supermarkets will move reduced sale items around so don't be afraid to ask an employee.  This applys to meat and seafood as well. They want to sell it as much as you wanna buy it.  You can get some really great stuff at some really great prices. Your checkbook will thank you!

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I chose to sell on ETSY because it is less expensive than selling on Ebay. It is a very friendly site and very user friendly. At present it is the only site I am selling on.

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
Right now I am enthralled with the specialty wires and colors I buy from
http://www. nottoto.etsy.com And I am always looking to find wonderful vintage jewelry!

3-What is your current fave product(not in your store) under 20$?
That would be the colored twist jump rings from http://www.nottoto.etsy.com @ 4.99.

Try to keep it simple and have fun.
