1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?
My daughter(fishey/fishlegs)was the first to tell me about Etsy when she opened her first shop early in 2007. Since I used to do all kinds of crafts in the past, I decided to try it out. Well, before I ever got crafting, I decided to rid my stash of all the vintage items I had collected over the years. It went SO well that I still have not "got crafting". I don't sell anywhere else and never will...

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
My favorite thing to buy on etsy is gifts for my good friend in Australia. I search out Australian sellers and have them send the gifts directly to her, saving me TONS in shipping costs. It has become my favorite gift venue!!

3-What is your current fave product/SELLER(not in your store) under 20$?
Red Ranger Messanger Bag from gattonegro

4- Any advice for new sellers?
PATIENCE!! It takes a while to be found! Treat your customers well, always leave feedback, acquire good photo skills, and support your fellow etsians...

5-And a favorite quote?
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?
I chose Etsy after reading about it in Business Journal Magazine. I had been wanting to sell online for some time but was intimidated by Ebay. I have my things on a few other web site now but I don't baby them like I do Etsy. I also sell at shows, private parties and wholesale account (like I am in University of Arizona bookstore).

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
I love to by gifts for people using the shop local feature on Etsy when I need a gift to get there fast. I also get a few supplies and I love to get fun purses. My favorite was a Cheetos purse. But my latest was matching Grandma/child aprons.

3-What is your current fave product(not in your store) under 20$?
Make up..I love to get eye shadows!! The quality is great and handmade!

4- Any advice for new sellers?
Practice taking great photos. Get you shop looking good from the bones up: good policies, good statement and be upfront with everything. ..get feedback from buying from others to start out.

5-And a favorite quote?
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Why...sometimes I make something and I think it is great..and maybe it doesn't sell for a while. I make something goofy and sometimes it sells right away. You just never know what someone else will like....

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?

I heard of etsy a few years ago when I started selling my beaded jewelry on my (now inactive) blog. One of my readers sold here and recommended it to me. My original shop, BlestBeads, opened in June 2007. I registered my TocadoraLeather name in October of last year, but didn't start listing there until this past June. I also sell in two El Paso boutiques and have items in a recycled art gallery in Los Angeles.

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
I am addicted to raku ceramics. I LOVE the variations in the glazes - so magical. However I also enjoy buying clothing and jewelry that I can't make - like bead-weaving and engraved silver.

3-What is your current fave product/SELLER(not in your store) under 20$?
I can't get enough of
Lisa Peters' raku beads and buttons.

4- Any advice for new sellers?
Do your research before you get started. There is so much information available on what makes a good shop - photography, graphics, policies, pricings, etc. Be patient, especially if you sell jewelry. And put a lot of legwork into building your local customer base. I find that when things are slow on etsy, my local sales keep me buoyed and vice versa.

1-Why did you choose to sell on Etsy/ and do you sell anywhere else?
I started selling on Etsy because it was so quick and easy to get started. I've stayed with Etsy as my only online retail venue because I've had such great success here!

2- What is your fave thing to buy on Etsy (whether it be supplies or gifts etc.)
Impulse buying! I've found some great handmade supplies on Etsy that have inspired some fun projects (other than digi-bling!) that I hadn't even considered making before seeing the supply item.

3-What is your current fave product under 20$?
This is a tough one! I'm gonna go with
kfarrell's Build Your Own Tinysaur kit.

4- Any advice for new sellers?
I've really found that effort = results. The periods where I've put a lot of energy into frequently designing and listing new products are when I've had the most success in selling.

5-And a favorite quote?
These are words of wisdom from a close friend for a specific situation, but which continually inspire me to have goals and go after them: "It's kinda like how when you're little, you always want a pony....but no matter how old you get, you always want one"

There are good people and unique things that you can easily find on Etsy. It is a big art community, and I really like it. I also sell my work twice a year at old town Pasadena art market.

I like to buy interesting and unique things.
